Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, having started as a privately held company in 1966. Since inception the company has designed and manufactured AC to DC and DC to DC power converters for the OEM electronics industry. In 1985 Semiconductor Circuits was purchased by Powertec, Inc., a manufacturer of open frame AC to DC power supplies for the computer industry. Semiconductor Circuits operated as a wholly owned subsidiary.

In 1988 Emerson Electric Company of St. Louis, MO. after purchasing the Powertec companies, acquired an interest in Astec (BSR) Plc. Under this agreement, Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Astec America, a US subsidiary of Astec (BSR) Plc.

In 1998 Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. was purchased in a management buyout and is presently operated as a privately held company. Semiconductor Circuits, Inc. is a subsidiary of Cool Power Technologies.

Today the company is still on the leading edge of new designs, having introduced the first commercial 16th brick in 1999, which became the foundation of all our later designs. We continued with the release of the 8th brick in 2002, the 32nd brick in 2011 and finally adding the 1×1 module in 2013. This broad family of modules has created the basis of modifiable platforms which can then provide unique solutions for customer specific applications. Engineering continues to expand each product category with additional voltage/current combinations that anticipate customer needs. When introduced most have surpassed the power levels of available competitive designs. These high efficiency, low component count devices are offered at very attractive prices enabling Semiconductor Circuits to remain at the forefront of a highly competitive market.

For 50 years OEMs worldwide have relied on Semiconductor Circuits standard and catalogue products. Reinforcing these relationships has been our ability to successfully design and manufacture modified and custom converters for their unique applications with lead-times of 6 weeks or less..

Semiconductor Circuits, Inc.’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility is located one hour Northeast of Boston, Massachusetts in Atkinson, New Hampshire. Our manufacturing facility is fully automated with state of the art surface mount capabilities.
